My gameplan stems around one key concept, the 'T'; the location on the court from which you have the best chance of retrieving the next ball hit by your opponent. If you can get to the 'T' after playing your shot, you have succeeded.
A large number of shots, hit with good enough quality, will enable you to attain the 'T'. However, certain shots from certain areas of the court will give you better chances of getting to the 'T', even when those shots are hit with only reasonable quality. These shot choices are elaborated in the specific sections within the gameplan.
These are the two questions you must ask yourself before you play every shot. You need to identify where you are on the court, because that will determine how long it will take you to get back to the 'T' after playing your shot. Secondly, you must identify where your opponent is as you are playing the ball. Unfortunately, this second point is not always possible, as you will often be playing the ball while blind to the other player, or at least you are blind to them long enough for them to move significantly from where they were the last time you saw them. In these cases, and without extra information, it is best to assume they are on the 'T', ready and waiting for your next shot.
